SMITHFIELD – The Johnston County Department of Social Services has announced the appointment of an interim director. Ben Rose will assume the interim role following the September 1 retirement of Scott Sabatino.
“Mr. Rose brings a wealth of knowledge and experience from his previous positions, including most recently as Director of Social Services at Durham County. We are excited to see how Mr. Rose will lead this invaluable department going forward as DSS continues to provide quality services to Johnston County residents,” said James Coleman, Chairman of the Board of the Johnston County Department of Social Services.
Mr. Sabatino has been the director since 2018. As of July 2023, he was paid $148,350 annually ($12,362.50 monthly).
As interim director, Mr. Rose will be paid $10,313.33 per month.
