JCI Employees Win Awards

Nevaro Pitt and Tyler McCarthy

Just in time for Mental Health Awareness Month, JCI is proud to congratulate two deserving team members.  Nevaro Pitt, IPS Employment Specialist of the Year, and Tyler McCarthy, IPS Program Assistant of the Year.

Tyler and Nevaro were selected from IPS Employment Specialists and Program Assistants across the state. They accepted their awards on May 3 at the UNC Institute for Best Practices ACT and IPS conference in Winston-Salem.

Nevaro has worked in mental health for over 15 years, providing confidence to those he serves. His positive outlook and support encourage everyone to reach for their dreams.

Tyler has been with IPS in the Program Assistant role since October 2019. He is detail-oriented, persistent, holds high integrity, and is a focused team player.

JCI’s Individual Placement and Supports (IPS) – an evidence-based, individual placement and support employment model for persons with mental health and substance abuse barriers. These services assist individuals with chronic and persistent mental illness and substance abuse disorders with intensive support to promote recovery and stability within one’s local community. IPS teams service residents of Johnston and Harnett Counties.  

The Institute for Best Practices is part of the UNC Center for Excellence in Community Mental Health within the UNC-Chapel Hill Department of Psychiatry.
