JCPS Central Office Closes Early After Employee Tests Positive For COVID

SMITHFIELD – Johnston County Public Schools Central Office on Highway 70 East has closed for the remainder of today (Wednesday) after an employee tested positive for COVID-19.

JCPS said the employee serves multiple roles that require them to be in various parts of the building.  School officials have shared all potential close contacts with the Johnston County Public Health Department and they are conducting contract tracing.

Out of an abundance of caution, JCPS has closed the Central Office (Simpson Building) for the remainder of the day to allow for deep cleaning and sanitizing. The building is expected to reopen to staff Thursday at 8:00 a.m.
