JCSO: Man Admits To Stealing Vacuum Cleaner

Authorities have arrested a man they said was responsible for stealing a commercial vacuum cleaner from a convenience store car wash last month.

On January 21st, the $1,500 vacuum was stolen from the Sheetz on Highway 210 at Highway 50 at McGee’s Crossroads outside of Benson. Johnston County deputies said they caught up with the suspect, 52 year-old John Glenn Belvin of Sherron Ridge Drive, Willow Spring on Wednesday.

Belvin allegedly confessed to sheriff’s detectives he took the vacuum cleaner saying he wanted the motor.  He allegedly told officers it was foggy when he stole the vacuum and thought the fog would prevent security cameras at the business from detecting the theft.

Belvin was charged with felony larceny. He was confined in the Johnston County Jail under a $3,000 bond.
