JCSO: Man Charged After Allegedly Pointing Gun At Driver
CLAYTON, N.C. — A Clayton man has been charged after deputies say he pointed a handgun at another driver during a road rage incident earlier this month.

According to the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office, the incident was reported around 8:54 a.m. on April 11 near the intersection of Veterans Parkway and Government Road in Clayton.
The victim, a 43-year-old Johnston County man, told deputies he was driving in the area when a vehicle approached from behind and passed him. As the vehicle pulled alongside, the driver allegedly pointed a handgun toward him before speeding away. The victim told authorities he believed the driver may have been upset about him driving slow.
Deputies later identified and located the suspect as Jose Jair Rivera, 41, of Slate Top Road.
Rivera was charged with assault by pointing a gun and carrying a concealed weapon, both misdemeanor offenses. He was processed at the Johnston County Detention Center and later released on a $10,000 bond.
As part of the investigation, deputies seized a 9mm handgun and ammunition.
No injuries were reported, and authorities said the victim and suspect did not know each other.
