The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office announced Monday two weekend armed robberies at businesses at the I-40 / NC42 interchange in Cleveland are not connected.
Around 9:10pm Friday, three employees had locked the front door at the ABC Store on Glen Road and were walking to their cars when a suspect approached and at gunpoint allegedly demanded they open the business. One of the victims said they were unable to reopen the store and the suspect fled on foot. The suspect was an unknown black male.
Around 7:00pm Sunday, a white male suspect entered the Shell Gas Station, implied he had a weapon and told the clerk, “I’ll take all the money.” The suspect fled with an undisclosed amount of cash and one pack of Newport cigarettes.
Anyone who has any information about either robbery is asked to contact the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office at 919-989-5000.
