UPDATE 4:30PM – The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office has charged Christopher Lee Ray, 32, of Smithfield with assault with a deadly weapon for the shooting of Jamie Paul Lucino. Lucino sustained serious but non-life threatening injuries. Authorities said the shooting was not random. The motive remains under investigation.
SMITHFIELD – The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting. It happened around Noon today (Tuesday) in the 600 block of Grabtown Road, off Brogden Road, east of Smithfield.
One person was transported to the hospital by Johnston County EMS for treatment of a gunshot wound.
No further information has been released.
