Johnston County Group Announces Feb. 8 Immigration Protest
CLAYTON — A local advocacy group plans a rally Sunday, Feb. 8, in Clayton to protest federal immigration enforcement practices and remember individuals organizers say were killed during encounters with federal agents.
The ICE Out for Good rally is scheduled from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Clayton Town Square, 100 West Main Street, according to Indivisible Johnston County.
Organizers said the event will remember Renee Good and Alex Pretti, who died during separate incidents involving federal agents in Minneapolis, Minn. Authorities have said investigations into the circumstances are ongoing.
Indivisible Johnston County describes itself as a grassroots coalition focused on civic engagement and public policy issues. Organizers say the rally is intended to provide a space for community members to express concerns about immigration enforcement and federal policy.
“We are holding a peaceful gathering to remember those affected and to voice concerns about federal immigration enforcement practices,” said Mary Blank, a leader with Indivisible JoCo.
Participants are encouraged to bring signs, and the organization says it adheres to nonviolent principles in its activities, including protests and rallies.
Indivisible JoCo said it is partnering with several local nonprofit organizations for the event, including Veterans for Responsible Leadership, Down Home NC, Moms Demand Action, and JoCo Pride.

Could this be the beginning of civil war in JoCo? We can only hope. My guess is those holding the protest didn’t grow up in this county nor have a century of roots here. Some of us don’t even want yankees, not to mention illegals.
Oh Brother!
