Johnston County has accepted an invitation to join the Triangle Water Supply Partnership (TWSP). The TWSP, formerly the Jordan Lake Regional Water Supply Partnership, has expanded its planning area with the goal of providing for sustainable water supplies for the region.
The group says regional planning and development of sustainable water supply is critical to our future.
As a member of the TWSP, Johnston County can participate in water supply planning projects with regional partners. This can assist the County with their Local Water Supply Water Shortage Response Plan, a requirement of the State of North Carolina. It will also help the County plan and prepare for any utility emergency.
The dues will vary but will range between $18,000 and $25,000 for the first five years. Johnston County will pay $20,800 to be a part of the partnership in 2019. Dues vary based on the number of water connections for each organization.
Other members include Harnett County, Chatham County, Orange County, Raleigh, Cary, Apex, Durham, Holly Springs, Morrisville, and Pittsboro.
