The Johnston County Heritage Center has an exhibit in the Public Library of Johnston County and Smithfield on Johnston County’s ten Major League baseball players.
The two earliest players were Dixie Davis of Wilson’s Mills and Duke Duncan of Clayton who played in the big leagues a century ago.
Other players include Al Evans of Kenly, Sam Narron of Corinth Holders, Earl Stephenson of Benson, Barry Foote of Smithfield, Corey Lee of Clayton, John Raynor of Benson, Jerry Sands of Smithfield, and Chris Archer of Clayton.
Both the Heritage Center and Public Library are open Monday through Saturday from 9am until 5pm. The library is also open Monday and Thursday evenings until 8pm. The Heritage Center’s website is www.johnstonnc.com/heritage.
