Johnston County Public Health Department staff began vaccinating individuals eligible in Phase 1a of the state and county’s vaccine distribution plan last week. The goal of Phase 1a is to protect health care workers fighting COVID-19, long-term care staff and residents, as well as those working on the vaccine rollout.
According to Public Health Director Dr. Marilyn Pearson, “Moving into the next phases of the vaccination plan will depend on supplies received each week. Residents are encouraged to continue following all protective measures like wearing a face covering, maintaining physical distance from others, washing hands frequently and avoiding gatherings.”
While vaccines are not currently open to the public just yet, the Health Department asks for everyone’s patience as they work through the prioritizations. To learn just where your spot is, visit YourSpotYourShot.nc.gov and www.johnstonnc.com/covid19 for an update on the current phase.
