Johnston County “Races for Recruitment”

Industry Event Showcases Business Assets and Says Thanks to Existing Industries

To showcase all that Johnston County has to offer business, county officials took industry leaders and guests for a ride earlier this month– a fast, thrilling ride at Benson’s new GALOT Motorsports Park.

Last week’s “Racing for Recruitment” event attracted more than 250 industry representatives and invited guests, including representatives from the NC Department of Commerce, state and local officials, and other economic development dignitaries. The event provided an inside look at the county’s state-of-the-art racetrack. With luxury boxes and a seating capacity of more than 9,000, the complex is like no other racing facility on the East Coast.

GALOT 6-7-16Guests had the chance to see, touch and smell racing up close and personal at the NHRA track that regularly hosts regional drag racing events. Adrenaline junkies had the opportunity to “ride along” in high performance racecars with professional drivers – an exhilarating ride that left visitors raving about Johnston County.

“This unique event was an exciting opportunity for Johnston County to thank existing industries while also highlighting the assets and amenities we can offer businesses of all kinds,” said Chris Johnson, director of the Johnston County Office of Economic Development.

Corporate, county and municipal partners joined together in hosting the industry appreciation event including ElectriCities of North Carolina, Duke Energy, Johnston County Visitors Bureau, the Town of Benson and several chambers of commerce.

“This was a remarkable event that left industry representatives and economic development professionals with a very positive impression of Johnston County,” said Brenda Daniels, Economic Development Manager at ElectriCities of North Carolina. “I’ve been to industry appreciation events across the state and this was one of the most memorable events ever.”
