Craig Olive, Johnston County Register of Deeds, announced temporary changes Thursday in all in-person services, but stresses that his office is still open for business.
Effective immediately, the Register of Deeds office will adhere to CDC and local authorities’ recommendations by promoting social distancing to protect all staff and public during this State of Emergency. Mr. Olive highly encourages the public to utilize his office’s online services such as electronic recording of real estate documents and online requests for birth, death and marriage certificates. These online services have been available since 2007 and 2013 so many citizens and professionals are already accustomed to these services.
“I want the citizens of Johnston County to know that my office is here for them should they need our services,” states Mr. Olive. His office is limiting in person contact and will be placing a drop box by his door so that documents can be dropped off for recording and then mailed out. Also, couples wishing to obtain a marriage license should call 919-989-5161 for an appointment.
Attached is the full list of changes to the services in the Register of Deeds office. “I am trusting in the good Lord to see us through this pandemic. He has always been with us and will continue to guide and direct us,” states Mr. Olive. The public is encouraged to call the Register of Deeds office at 919-989-5160 or 919-989-5161 if there are any questions.
