Johnston County Reports Second Death Related To COVID-19

Johnston County Public Health is reporting the second COVID-19 associated death of a Johnston County resident.

The individual died today from complications associated with the virus. The patient was elderly and had underlying medical conditions. To protect the family’s privacy, no further information about this patient will be released.

Johnston County Health Director Dr. Marilyn Pearson stated, “We offer our thoughts and prayers to the family.  As we continue to see an increase of cases in our county, we are reminded of the importance of staying at home in an effort to stop the spread of this virus.”

The Johnston County Public Health Department provided the following data as of today:

  • There have been 25 confirmed positive cases
  • The number of recovered cases is two
  • Two deaths have been reported
  • The average age of the positive cases is age 54
  • By gender, the cases are 52% male and 48% female

It is important to remember that this data may continue to change as cases are investigated and additional testing is performed.
