Johnston County Resident Earns State’s Highest FFA Honor

Donnie Lassiter of Johnston County, third from left, received the Honorary State FFA Degree at the 93rd State FFA Convention.  Individuals nominated for this honor must have provided exceptional service to agriculture and/or the agricultural education/FFA program on a state-wide level.

Lassiter serves on the University of Mount Olive Board of Trustees.  He has faithfully supported the institution for years, and was pivotal in the development of the George R. Kornegay, Jr. Student Farm on the Donnie and Linda Lassiter Agricultural Campus, named in honor of Lassiter and his late wife.

The Honorary State FFA Degree is the highest honorary degree awarded by the North Carolina FFA Association and is presented at the annual State FFA Convention.
