NC State Trooper Colby Pridgen went above and beyond the call of duty recently while assisting a family broke down along a busy highway in Johnston County.
Monica Hines, her boyfriend and children were traveling from Jacksonville, NC to Duke Hospital when a tire on their car went flat.
Monica called AAA but before they arrived, Trooper Pridgen spotted their car and stopped to see how he could assist the family of six.
While removing the flat tire Trooper Pridgen noticed the other three tires on the car needed replacing.
With his own money, Trooper Pridgen purchased a new tire for the car and then asked Hines to follow him to a local service station. At the service station they learned Prigden had purchased three additional tires.
Before they departed, the trooper also bought the family lunch and filled their vehicle with gas.
The state trooper told WRAL that earlier that same day he was the recipient of an act of kindness. “I believe in paying an act of kindness forward. Someone helped me out earlier that day, and I just felt like it was meant to be when I ran into this family.”
“I couldn’t let them ride all the way back to Jacksonville with their kids on tires like that,” he told WRAL.
Monica posted about Trooper Pridgen’s kindness on social media saying, “God has sent her family an angel!”
