A crowd of over 300 family, friends and co-workers came together at “The Farm” to celebrate the retirement of Johnston County State Highway Patrol Trooper, Jason Hare, Thursday night.
The North Carolina State Highway Patrol Commander, Freddy L. Johnson, Jr., presented Hare with the order of retirement along with Hare’s last service weapon, which is a Highway Patrol tradition. Hare also received North Carolina’s highest honor, “The Order of the Long Leaf Pine.”
Johnston County Sheriff, Steve Bizzell, also spoke to the crowd about the years spent working with Hare, giving the crowd a good laugh. Other’s spoke, relating fond memories and long ago experiences with Trooper Hare during his 28 year law enforcement career.
Trooper Hare did not remain “retired” for long. The day following his last day with the Highway Patrol, he began working for the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office for the second time.
