Johnston Health announced Monday they are experiencing an increased number of viral influenza cases among patients.
To ensure the safety of patients, the hospital is restricting children ages 11 and under from visiting Johnston Health hospital campuses in Smithfield and Clayton.
In the past month, the hospital has treated 260 cases of the flu, mostly through the emergency departments. That’s three times as many cases as last year during the same period.
Johnston Health reminds the public they have urgent care clinics inside Johnston Medical Mall in Smithfield and across the street from their Clayton hospital. In Smithfield, the clinic is open Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. till 5 p.m. In Clayton, hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. till 8 p.m.;Saturday, 10 a.m. till 6 p.m.; and Sunday, 10 a.m. till 4 p.m.
