Johnston School Board Approves Administrative Contracts

SMITHFIELD — The Johnston County Board of Education approved several administrative contract recommendations during its Feb. 10 meeting.

Superintendent Dr. David Pearce recommended the personnel actions, which were approved by the board.

Ashley Radford received a three-year contract as chief academic officer for curriculum, instruction and accountability. The contract will run from March 1, 2026, through June 30, 2029.

The board also approved two-year contracts for the following school principals: Dr. Tobias Hocutt at Cooper Academy; Lauren Strickland at Glendale-Kenly Elementary School; Melissa Edgerton at Princeton Elementary School; Nicholas Taylor at Smithfield Middle School, and David Shawn Bates at Thanksgiving Elementary School.
