SMITHFIELD – The National League of Junior Cotillions Johnston County Chapter held its annual Grand Spring Ball at the Johnston County Ag Center in Smithfield on March 19. The Grand Spring Ball was a semi-formal event and included a very special dance: a parent/child Fox Trot.
“This is a wonderful opportunity for students to practice the social skills they have been learning all year in class. I also love that these Junior Cotillion students are gaining very important manners, etiquette and social graces that can often be missed in today’s digital and technology-heavy learning environments. Cotillion classes will help them the rest of their lives and we have a lot of fun in the process!” said Emily Harris, director of the local Junior Cotillion.
The National League of Junior Cotillions is a three-year etiquette and social dance training program that teaches thousands of students nationwide. Junior Cotillion classes for the 2023-2024 school year start in September. Cotillion classes are open to all 5th – 8th grade students in Johnston County.
Our local Cotillion Chapter also offers a week-long manners camp in June for rising 1st through 4th graders. Classes sizes are limited. Please visit the website https://nljc.com/n/index.php/chapters/johnstonnc/chapter for more information and to register.
