Juvenile petition charges have been filed against a male juvenile following a sexual assault reported on Dec. 10th to Smithfield Police.
Police said the alleged assault occurred on Dec. 9th in a residential neighborhood in South Smithfield. The female victim, who is also a juvenile, was transported to a regional hospital for treatment.
Police said the incident was not a random act.
No additional details were released because both the victim and suspect in the case are minors.
