Kenly Crash Injures 3

Three people were injured in a two vehicle accident at 7:31pm last Thursday, Sept. 12th on Beulahtown Road near Old Route 22 about two miles outside of Kenly.

According to the NC Highway Patrol, a 2002 Buick was traveling north on Beulahtown Road and driven by Margarita Alvarez Ceja, 43, of Kenly.  A 2018 Ford operated by Julian Ray Evans, 44, of Kenly was traveling north behind the Buick and pulled into the left lane to pass.  As Evans began to pass the Buick, Ceja attempted to turn left into a private driveway.   To avoid the collision, Evans ran off the roadway to the left, overcorrected, crossed the centerline, then ran off the roadway on the right striking a highway sign and ditch before overturning.  Troopers estimated Evans was traveling 55mph in a 55mph zone at the time of the accident. No contact was made between the two vehicles.

Ceja was not injured, however Evans and two passengers in the Ford, ages 3 and 48, were transported to Wake Medical Center by Johnston County EMS.

Trooper T.R. Price charged Ceja with failure to yield and driving without a license.
