A traffic stop Tuesday morning resulted in the arrest of a Kenly man on a felony drug charge. At 10:10am, a Johnston County deputy sheriff stopped a vehicle for a violation on Sunshine Road.
During the traffic stop a small bag of suspected methamphetamines was reportedly found under the driver’s seat. The driver of the vehicle, 34 year-old Steven Daniel Smith of Simmons Road, was charged with felony possession of methamphetamines.
Smith was transported to the Johnston County Courthouse and taken before a criminal magistrate. He was then booked into the Johnston County Jail under a $20,000 secured bond.
