WILSON – Wilson Police have announced the arrests of two people on murder charges.
Jimmie Ray Turner Jr., 57, of Renfrow Road, Kenly and Ashley Nichole Harrell, 30, of Wooten Avenue, Stantonsburg have been arrested on first-degree murder and robbery with a dangerous weapon charges in connection with the shooting death of Evard Earl Artis.
The 63 year-old victim was found in the front yard of his residence on Stadium Drive in Wilson around 1:30AM Monday. Wilson Police and EMS attempted life saving measures but they were unsuccessful. Artis died at the scene.
Police have not said what led them to the two suspects. Wilson Police said the investigation is still ongoing.
