JCI recently thanked the Knights of Columbus of St. Ann’s Catholic Church – Council 11265 for their generous donation, recognition, and support. The Knights of Columbus is a faith and family-based Catholic men’s organization dedicated to charity, unity, fraternity, and patriotism.
Members of the Knights of Columbus with family connections to JCI worked together to generously contribute to the mission of empowering individuals with disabilities and disadvantages through training and employment. As a result of their efforts, JCI was presented with a monetary donation and a crystal gem award in memory of Joanne Aspesi, a beloved member of the JCI team who passed away in 2019.
Jim Sullivan and his son Thomas, a JCI participant, contributed their time and effort to the fundraising cause in coordination with fellow members Pete Aspesi (new Grand Knight and husband of former employee Joanne Aspesi), Joe Bazar, and Kevin Palate. Thomas was instrumental in raising funds, committing many hours to this effort.
Thomas Sullivan’s experience with JCI showcases how some of the available services can assist adults with disabilities in transitioning from high school to independent working scenarios. Throughout his time with JCI, Thomas has successfully completed the high school transition program (preETS) and moved to the Community Employment Services team for job placement. Presently, he works as a Customer Service Specialist and at the Food Pantry at St. Ann’s.
