KS Bank Expands Into Sampson County

ROSEBORO, N.C. – Smithfield-based KS Bank plans to open its first Sampson County branch this fall, bringing in-person banking back to Roseboro after an absence of nearly four years.

The bank announced plans to open a full-service financial center at 201 E. Roseboro Street in downtown Roseboro. The branch is expected to open in November.

Roseboro lost two bank branches within about six months of each other in 2022 and 2023, leaving the town without a local bank.

Town and business leaders continued efforts to attract another financial institution, including Houston “Chip” Crumpler III and his family, who purchased one of the former bank buildings with the intention of keeping it available for banking use.

“When the former bank building became available, my family made the commitment to purchase it with a specific goal: to preserve it as a banking location and help bring convenient financial services back to Roseboro,” Crumpler said.

Crumpler is president of Crumpler Plastic Pipe, Inc.

KS Bank President and CEO Earl W. Worley Jr. said the bank was drawn to the community’s efforts to restore local banking.

“Roseboro never stopped believing that local banking matters,” Worley said. “The determination shown by the town’s leaders, business community and residents over the past several years reflects the kind of community spirit that aligns with who we are as a bank.”

The Roseboro location will be KS Bank’s 13th financial center and its first in Sampson County.

Mayor Alice Butler said the return of a bank has been a priority for Roseboro leaders.

“It has been almost four years since our banks closed, but our town’s business leaders never stopped working to find a bank to serve the citizens of Roseboro and the surrounding community,” Butler said.

The new branch is expected to offer deposit and lending services for individuals and businesses, in-branch and drive-thru teller service, and 24-hour ATM access. Customers will also have access to online and mobile banking, mortgage services and wealth management.

Commercial Relationship Manager Collin Peregoy will be among the KS Bank employees supporting customers in Roseboro and western Sampson County.

KS Bank was established in 1924 and is headquartered in Smithfield. The bank currently operates 12 financial centers in Johnston, Harnett, Nash, Wake, Wilson and Wayne counties.
