Wayne County firefighters had a difficult time bringing a large barn fire under control Tuesday evening.
The barn, located on the Thomas Uzzell Farm in the 4000 block of Highway 70 East of Goldsboro, was filled with hay and farm equipment.
Four fire departments worked for several hours to contain the blaze. Fire engines drew water from a nearby farm pond to spray on the fire. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
The Elroy, New Hope, Seven Springs, and Pricetown Fire Departments along with Wayne County EMS responded to the scene.
