Ecstasy pills with a street value of $3,270 were seized from an SUV during a traffic stop Wednesday afternoon.
A Johnston County Sheriff’s Office SAFE Team deputy was traveling on Lee Road near Steel Bridge Road when he spotted the driver of an SUV not wearing a seat belt. After pulling over the vehicle, the officer said he detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle.
During a search, 109 MDMA pills, also known as ecstasy, were seized along with marijuana, digital scales and smoking pipes, authorities announced Thursday.
The driver, Jermaine Lamont Johnson, 20, of the 700 block of Hood Farm Road, Clayton was charged with three counts of trafficking MDMA, and one count each of maintaining a vehicle for a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance and possession of marijuana paraphernalia.
Johnson was confined in the Johnston County Jail under a $50,000 bond.
