Large Quantity Of Narcotics Located During Search Warrant

Suspect Arrested Twice In 3 Days

SELMA – A 28 year-old man arrested during a January 14 traffic stop by Selma Police was busted on additional charges during execution of a narcotics search warrant at his home on January 16.

Daniel Ines Yanes of the 600 block of River Road, Selma was jailed without bond following his second arrest in three days.

On January 14 around 7:41pm, Selma Police said they stopped Yanes in his 2023 GMC Acadia for speeding 46 MPH in a 35 MPH zone on W. Anderson Street near S. Sumner Street. During the traffic stop, 14 grams of suspected marijuana, 1 gram of cocaine, and a Glock handgun was located in the center console. Yanes had approximately $1,000 in cash in his pockets.

Yanes was charged with possession of a firearm by a felon, felony possession of cocaine, misdemeanor possession of marijuana, misdemeanor possession of a concealed gun. He was also cited for the speeding violation. He was later released on a $50,000 secured bond.

On January 16, the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office STAR Team and Narcotics Division executed a search warrant at the suspect’s home in connection with an investigation where Yanes was allegedly selling cocaine from his residence.

During the search officers said they found 295.6 grams of suspected cocaine, 2.9 pounds of marijuana, 44.5 grams of opiates, 2.2 grams of MDMA, and 3 guns.

Yanes was arrested on 15 drug-related offenses including trafficking cocaine, trafficking opium or heroin, maintaining a vehicle or dwelling for a controlled substance, and possession of a firearm by a felon.

The narcotics seized during the search warrant had an estimated street value of more than $37,000.
