Late-Night Shooting Leaves Man Hospitalized

FOUR OAKS — The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an overnight shooting that left a man hospitalized Monday night.
Deputies responded around 8:55 p.m. to a report of gunfire on Soy Bean Lane, off N.C. Highway 210. According to investigators, a 24-year-old man was running along the dark residential street when someone in a passing vehicle opened fire, striking him in the buttock.
First responders located the victim lying in the roadway. He was transported to a hospital for treatment. His condition was not immediately released.

A nearby resident said they heard three gunshots before looking outside and seeing the victim in the street.
Deputies canvassed the neighborhood searching for witnesses and security camera footage that may help identify the vehicle involved.
Officers found that an unoccupied car parked in a nearby driveway was struck by one of the bullets.
Authorities said the shooting does not appear to be random.
Investigators noted the victim’s home was struck by gunfire in a separate incident in 2025. No injuries were reported in that incident.
The investigation remains ongoing.
