Leadership Johnston Gets A Taste Of Benson’s Small Business Community

BENSON, N.C. — Members of Leadership Johnston spent a day exploring Benson’s business community recently, meeting with entrepreneurs and learning firsthand about the opportunities and challenges of operating a small business.

Hosted by the Benson Area Chamber of Commerce on May 21, the visit provided participants with an opportunity to experience the town’s growing downtown district while connecting with local business owners.

The day began with leadership classes before participants gathered for lunch provided by Cornerstone Cafe & Coffee in downtown Benson.

Following lunch, the group visited several local businesses to hear directly from owners about their experiences building and sustaining successful enterprises in a small-town setting.

Stops along the tour included Frost and Fyre, formerly Studio Restore; Nancy’s at The Grande Magnolia, “A Taste of Home”; Small World Travel & Tours; The Royal Boutique & Company; and Sisters II Ice Cream, where participants enjoyed a sweet treat while learning about the business.

The day concluded with a behind-the-scenes tour of Broadslab Distillery, one of Johnston County’s well-known craft spirits producers.

According to Benson Area Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Loretta Byrd, the visit showcased the strength and diversity of Benson’s business community while providing Leadership Johnston participants with valuable insights into entrepreneurship and economic development.

While time constraints prevented the group from visiting every local business, chamber officials said the event highlighted many of the businesses that help make Benson a vibrant destination for residents and visitors alike.
