Smithfield police officer W.T. Lee has been promoted. Lee was promoted to the rank of sergeant during an Oath of Office ceremony May 7th before the Smithfield Town Council. Mayor Andy Moore administered the Oath.
Sgt. Lee is a lifelong resident of Johnston County. He has been with the Smithfield Police Department for 11 years, and has served as a Patrol Officer and School Resource Officer. Prior to joining the Smithfield Police Department, he was a teacher with the Johnston County Public School System.
Sgt. Lee received his Basic Law Enforcement Training at Johnston Community College, and is also a graduate of East Carolina University and North Johnston High School.
