A few members of the American Legion Leonard Moore Post #71 and family members participated in their Quarterly Adopt-A-Highway program on Old US Highway 70 West in Clayton on Saturday.
The Adopt-A-Highway Program (AAH) was established in 1988 by the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NC DOT) in response to growing public concern regarding litter along the state’s highways. The AAH Program is administered by the NC DOT Office of Beautification, and is a joint effort between community volunteers and the NC DOT. Its purpose is to decrease the amount of litter on North Carolina’s roadsides and improve the beauty and quality of the environment.
Paying it forward by being committed to mentoring youth and sponsorship of wholesome programs in our communities, advocating patriotism and honor, promoting strong national security, and continued devotion to fellow Service Members and Veterans is the foundation of what the American Legion is all about.
