Wilson’s Mills Police Chief A.Z. Williams told The Johnston County Report, “We’re a rapidly growing community that has seen increased motor vehicle traffic and accidents including several fatalities in the past two years. The work zone construction on Highway 70 unfortunately has not deterred violators at all. As a result, WMPD has increased our efforts to enforce motor vehicle laws throughout Wilson’s Mills with marked and unmarked police vehicles to reduce excessive speeding and to hopefully save lives.”

  1. Keep it up! We may see some improvement in driving around this area. There are extremely too many people who do not respect the law.

    • Carl do you respect the law? Or do you think you are better because you drive 9 over and don’t get a ticket? lol. We all break the law. N.C. is an absolute speed state. 1 over can get you a ticket. I’m sure you set your cruise to the exact speed limit every time. Get out of here. Learn why this country came into existence. Law Breakers. Oh wait, that was different. Was it? Do you really think LEO is here to protect and serve? That US Supreme Court says they have no such obligation. Well dang. Maybe we need some new law that says they must. lol. Government these days serve themselves and not the folks who voted them in. Democracy?! Nope, a Republic. Learn social constructs Sir. Heard a Captain of an LEO agency say, “ all these complaints coming in. Be careful what you wish for because you may be the one who gets charged.” Sir, I am the one who complained. lol.

  2. We need a lot more of these types of things. Cops doing their jobs keep communities safer than they would be otherwise. 16 people out driving with no license…nuts.

  3. Great job to all the LEO’s involved. I would love to see more of this. A little time to wait in the checkpoint line saves lives so it is worth the wait.

    • Agreed. I have the privilege to operate a motor vehicle with a driver’s license. If I have not committed a crime and no reasonable suspicion that I have or am committing a traffic offense or any other crime, police have no right to stop me.

      • This is where you are 100% incorrect. Having a driver’s license is privilege and not a right, therefore the State and Countys have the right to order the checks. Not understanding as to why you are against this anyway as a check like this could save your life or the life of a family member from a drunk driver or a gun that could be used against you and I pray you never do.
