Fire crews responded to a structure fire on Cedar Rail Road off Rock Quarry Road around 8:00pm Tuesday.
Firefighters arrived to find flames coming from an outbuilding filled with tires. The building was a complete loss.
Fire Chief Matt Poole said the cause of the fire remains under investigation. Heavy thunderstorms were in the area but officials aren’t sure if a lightning strike was to blame.
Rocky Quarry Road was closed for more than an hour due to the number of fire trucks on the scene.
The Garner, Raleigh, Eastern Wake, and Wake New Hope Fire Departments responded.
