Local Business Owner Buys Historic Downtown Pine Level Building

Joyce Jenkins the owner of local catering company called The Serving Spoon has increased her downtown Pine Level real estate footprint.

The local business owner and her husband recently purchased a historic building at 119 West Pine Street. The building currently houses the Pine Level post office.

Jenkins said details are not final for expansion to the new space, but improvements to the post office portion of the building have started. Immediate changes include interior painting and floor restoration, however more extensive renovations are planned for the building and could take up to one year.

“We are working on this expansion to be able to provide more than catering services to our community. We have so many loyal and supportive customers in Johnston County and we’re looking forward to offering more to them with this additional space,” Jenkins stated.

The purchase adds retail space and a substantial amount of parking for the local business. As The Serving Spoon grows into their new space, Jenkins anticipates creating job opportunities for the community and funneling additional revenue into Johnston County’s agricultural market.

The Serving Spoon is currently located at 212 N. Peedin Avenue in Pine Level and is a full-service catering company providing culinary event planning throughout Johnston, Wake and Wayne counties. Along with food and beverages, the Serving Spoon also decorates food stations to compliment special event decor. Jenkins has been a caterer in Johnston County for over 20 years.
