Local Businesswoman Killed In Car Crash

PRINCETON – A local businesswoman died late-today (Thursday) in a traffic accident in eastern Johnston County. Tammy Louise Worley, 54, of Princeton, the owner of Tammy Worley Bail Bonds in Smithfield, was killed in the crash not far from her home.

The accident was reported at 5:59pm on Old Denning Road outside of Princeton. According to the NC Highway Patrol, Worley was traveling westbound when she ran off the roadway on the right, overcorrected, then crossed the centerline. Her green 2006 Nissan Altima ran off the roadway on the left and struck a power pole. She died as a result of the collision.

Troopers said Ms. Worley was the only occupant in the vehicle. She was not wearing a seat belt. Speed was not a factor.

The crash resulted in the loss of power to two homes in the area. Duke Energy responded to restore electricity.

The accident remains under investigation by Trooper V.E. Rivera with the NC Highway Patrol.
