Local Girl Wins Sampson Title

Grace Ann Carroll, a Johnston County native, won the title Miss Greater Sampson County 2018 on Saturday night. The pageant took place at the Sampson County Agri-Exposition Center in Clinton.

Grace Ann, a 2011 graduate of South Johnston High and a graduate student at UNC-Greensboro, is studying nutrition, and is working on her dietetics degree. She won a $1,000 scholarship to go toward her educational studies.

She was also the fitness and lifestyle winner as well as the talent winner on Saturday.

Winning the title of Miss Greater Sampson County Outstanding Teen was Sarah Pope, a student at Triton High School. She performed a clogging routine.

Grace Ann competed in the 2017 Miss NC Pageant and was in the top 10.

Grace Ann (pictured right) and Sarah (left) will compete for the titles of 2018 Miss North Carolina and Miss North Carolina Outstanding Teen in June at Raleigh’s Memorial Auditorium.

Grace Ann is the daughter of Mike and Lynda Carroll of Smithfield.
