Local Man Picked To Lead Central Carolina Hospital Emergency Services

SANFORD – Daniel Register was recently named director of emergency services at Central Carolina Hospital, according to a news release from the hospital.

Register holds a Master of Business Administration in health care management, a Bachelor of Science in nursing and is a registered nurse. Prior to his move to Central Carolina Hospital, he served as director of emergency services and director of the stroke program for Jupiter Medical Center in Jupiter, Florida, since 2021. His new role at the Sanford hospital began Feb. 10.

Register is a native of Willow Spring and now lives in Angier to be close to his mother. His wife, Angie, remains in Florida where she works as a nurse practitioner.

Daniel Register started his career as an emergency department staff nurse at Johnson Memorial Hospital. He spent 10 years with WakeMed Health and Hospitals in a variety of roles, including supervisor and interim manager of adult emergency services for the Level 1 Trauma Center.

In May 2009, Daniel Register joined UNC Health Johnston, serving as director of emergency services from 2009 to 2015 and emergency services system director from 2015 to 2021.

He received his associate degree in nursing from Johnston Community College and his Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from Winston Salem State University. He earned his Master of Business Administration in Healthcare Management from Western Governors University.

Daniel Register says he has been impressed with what he sees at CCH.

“I think the hospital is a great community hospital,” he said. “I think it’s in a perfect location for the growth that’s projected for this area. I think it’s got the right people in place.

“The executive team has been very supportive so far,” he added. “I like their vision. I think we’re right on the cusp of really making big changes here at Central Carolina Hospital, and I’m happy to be a part of that.”

The Registers have four children: Lauren, 24; Carson, 20; Branson, 15; and Addison, 12.
