Because of last December’s winter storm, potholes are appearing earlier than normal across the state. They are caused by water seeping into cracks in the road and ice forming. Those cracks widen, causing the asphalt to rise while traffic loosens the pavement eventually creating a hole in the road.
You can help expedite repairs by letting the Department of Transportation know where potholes are located by visiting their website. You can fill out an online form reporting any potholes you see.
