Man Accused Of Passing Counterfeit $100 Bills

Javoun-Tihe-Rashawn-Smith-FIA Raleigh man is accused of passing counterfeit $100 bills at Smithfield businesses.

Smithfield Police said the incident happened Tuesday afternoon. Javoun Tihe-Rashawn Smith, 24, allegedly went to the Dollar General at 841 West Market Street and passed a counterfeit bill for merchandise. Smith then reportedly went to the Shoe Show at 1285 North Brightleaf Boulevard and attempted to pass a second counterfeit $100 bill, according to Police Captain T.S. Choe.

An officer responded to a call from the Shoe Show and arrested Smith before he left the business, Captain Choe said.

Smith was charged with uttering a forged instrument, attempting to utter a forged instrument, and resisting a public officer. Bail was set at $80,000. Police also seized $283 in cash from the suspect.
