BENSON – Two people are dead following an overnight murder-suicide. At 10:07pm Wednesday, the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office responded to a shooting at a home in the 200 block of McGee Road.
Deputies were met by a 22 year-old female occupant of the home who stated her mother and mother’s boyfriend were inside the residence. The female stated her mother and mother’s boyfriend had a disagreement and immediately heard two gunshots, causing her to flee outside the home and call 911.
Officers discovered Ma Teresa Meraz-Cruz, age 52, suffering from a gunshot wound and Miguel Angel Ventura, age 38, deceased from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Meraz-Cruz was rushed to WakeMed in Raleigh where she later died from her injuries.

How and in what way could this have been prevented by LE? This was a disagreement that obviously quickly turned deadly.
