Man Arrested For Fraudulent Video Game Sale

SMITHFIELD – Smithfield Police have arrested a 34 year-old man on fraud charges. Antonio Watson of Jarvis Lane, Benson was charged July 9 with obtaining property by false pretense, a felony.

On July 4, a 24 year-old Smithfield man reported to police that he met Watson at a location on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive in Smithfield where the suspect agreed to sell the victim an XBox game system for $240.

The victim gave Watson the money for the XBox but Watson allegedly refused to give the victim the game. After several unsuccessful attempts to obtain the XBox the victim called police.

Watson was given a $2,500 bond at the Johnston County Detention Center.
