KENLY – A 23 year-old man is accused of having a BB rifle in his possession while on the Glendale-Kenly Elementary School campus.
Cameron Sanderson of Lee’s Chapel Church Road, Dunn was served with a warrant April 1 for possession of a weapon on educational property. He was released on a $500 bond.

On March 17 around 3:30pm, a parent alerted Glendale-Kenly school staff about a vehicle in the car pool line playing loud vulgar music.
Staff notified a school resource officer who approached the car and reportedly found Sanderson wearing a ski mask. He also had an AR-style BB rifle in the vehicle.
Sanderson reportedly told the resource officer he was wearing a ski mask because it was a cool day. He reportedly claimed he was going bird hunting with the BB rifle.
The rifle was seized and Sanderson was released at the scene. A warrant was obtained the following day for his arrest. He was located on April 1 and served with the misdemeanor charge.
AR style BB gun
Great job SRO! Quickly securing the weapon away from him and getting him off campus. What kind of idiot wears a ski mask and carries a replica AR rifle on school grounds. Plus bringing attention to himself with the loud music … Lucky he wasn’t shot, he could have been if he had it in his hands when officer approached. Glad they charged the dummy. Thanks JCSO for keeping our kids safe.
Excuse me why weren’t parents notified??? This upsets me so much!
Because JCPS doesn’t really care. Especially about the school in the more rural areas of the county. If this was SSS. It would have been on the news within the hour.
Loon.
What an idiot!!! Really!! He was just begging for attention. Lack of common decency!! Play loud music of any kind while in line at a school is just stuff a**holes do. Then to have gun of any kind not properly secured is just asking for problems. How to say you’re a dumba** without saying you’re a dumba** winner right here.
Wearing a ski mask……? AR style BB gun? Bird hunting when it’s not in season? He should be charged with more than a misdemeanor. He was there to cause terror. Get this nut off the street.
One word……stupid. Looks like he was prepared for something..Those bb guns that look like real guns should be illegal. That kind of toy gun could get a person hurt, in the right situation. He shouldn’t be allowed back on the school property..What would have happened if a student had done this nonsense? Suspended? Then suspend this person.
He is formally trespassed from any Joco campus. Steps foot on any jcps campus and will be immediately charged. Plus criminal charge of weapon on campus. That’s the most that can be done. What he has done does not meet the elements of any other crime. Like “going arm to the terror of the public” .…
Parents were not notified because no kid was ever in danger at any time. It was so swiftly and quickly handled. There was no need for a lockdown or a “secure” . Notifying parents only causes trauma parents coming to the school when not necessary, rumors and more. You have to balance what parents need to know and what they don’t need to know. In this case, there was nothing they could do or needed to do. Anytime there’s a lot down the number one problem for law-enforcement or parents trying to come to the school. They’re not going to be allowed in and all they do is clog up the roads and parking lot where LE can’t do their job.
You have this 100% correct and 100% in the order. Thanks for this posting.
Why would parents need to be notified when no students were ever in danger? All that would do us cause a bunch of Karen’s to start rumors and escalate what was handled correctly and thoroughly by the SRO and admin..
EXACTLY!
