Man Arrested In Connection With Father’s Death

SAMPSON COUNTY, N.C. — A Roseboro man has been charged with felony involuntary manslaughter in the death of his father following an altercation in Clinton last year.

Sampson County deputies responded to a residence at 125 Manuel Lane on Dec. 26, 2025 after a report of a deceased individual. Officers found 54-year-old Charles Frankie Long inside the home.

Investigators said Long had reportedly been involved in a physical confrontation the previous evening with his son, 29-year-old James Lockamy of Microwave Tower Road. Lockamy left the residence after the altercation, authorities said. Long later died from internal injuries sustained during the incident.

Following a lengthy investigation in coordination with the Sampson County District Attorney’s Office, probable cause was established to charge Lockamy with felony involuntary manslaughter. Lockamy surrendered to investigators March 18 at the magistrate’s office and was taken into custody without incident.
