A 29 year-old man says he was beaten and robbed while walking along a rural roadway. The incident happened Sunday morning but was not reported until Tuesday night.
The victim said he left his home around 1:00am Sunday to walk to a relative’s home on another road to get beer. While walking near the intersection of Highway 222 and Whitley Road, not far from the Nash County line, the victim said two males approached him from behind and beat him.
The suspects took three gold chains valued at $2,750 and $500 in cash. No weapons were displayed.
When the victim had not returned by 3:00am, an acquaintance went looking for him and allegedly found him lying beside the dark rural roadway. The victim was injured but not seriously.
The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the robbery.
