One person was injured and a family pet died in a house fire Monday night. The blaze was reported at 1210 Southerlund Road in the Northview neighborhood in Garner.
Garner Fire Battalion Chief Donnie Lindsey said a man was home with his two children when they discovered their garage was on fire. The family was able to escape, however, the father received burns and had to be transported by ambulance to the Burn Center at UNC Chapel Hill. The children were not harmed.
Firefighters attempted to revive a family dog with oxygen however they were unsuccessful and the animal died. The home received extensive damage as the fire spread into the attic.
