A Wake County man was allegedly caught red-handed by Johnston County deputies Monday night breaking into a coin operated machine. Officers responded to a suspicious person call in the parking lot of the Speedway at 5179 NC 42 West, near the Interstate 40 intersection, around 11:45pm.
When they arrived they located Randy Scott Goodwin, 44, of Dixie Forest Road, Raleigh standing next to an air vending machine that had been pried open. Deputies said they found a crowbar and 7 quarters nearby.
Goodwin was charged with breaking into a coin operated machine.
While Goodwin had allegedly only removed $1.75 in quarters from the machine, authorities said he caused $250 in damage.
