SMITHFIELD – The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office has charged a 25 year-old man following an investigation into an alleged sexual assault.
Anthony Vincent Castaldo of Sprewell Court, Wendell, a Johnston County address, is facing criminal charges.
On March 28, 2024, a juvenile victim filed a report with authorities. Following an investigation by sheriff’s detectives, Castaldo was arrested on July 1 at his residence.
While being taken into custody, he allegedly resisted being placed in handcuffs.
According to public documents, Castaldo was charged with two felony counts of second-degree forcible rape and one misdemeanor count of resisting a public officer. Bail was set at $135,000.
