Man Found Dead In Median, Police Seek Hit-And-Run Driver

GOLDSBORO, N.C. — Police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run after a man was found unresponsive Friday morning in the median of U.S. 70.

Officers with the Goldsboro Police Department, along with fire and EMS crews, responded around 9:43 a.m. to the 800 block of U.S. 70.

Emergency responders located the victim, later identified as Ernest Lee Martin of Goldsboro, and attempted life-saving measures. Martin died from injuries believed to have been sustained in a traffic crash.

Investigators said it appears Martin was struck by a vehicle sometime during the evening or overnight hours between April 2 and April 3. The driver left the scene without stopping to render aid or notify authorities.
